Breckland residents are being encouraged to check they know when their bins will be collected over the festive period.
The normal collection schedule will remain in place until Friday, 22nd December, but in light of the Bank Holidays for Christmas and New Year a revised schedule will be put in place from the following week.
As a result, households will need to put their bins out on a different day than usual between Christmas and mid-January. The temporary schedule is for black recycling bins, green general waste bins, and brown garden waste bins. The normal schedule will resume from Monday, 15 January.
You can search for your bin collection dates over the festive period – and throughout the year – by entering your postcode into the Council’s new online ‘My Breckland’ feature: www.breckland.gov.uk/mybreckland
Information about the revised schedule is also available on the bin collection calendars which were sent to every household in the district earlier this year and at www.breckland.gov.uk/christmasholidaycollections.
People are also being reminded that any extra recycling generated over the festive period will be collected from the kerbside on recycling collection days, if it is left next to a recycle bin, unbagged and in an unsealed cardboard box. A list of materials that can be put in household recycling bins is at: www.breckland.gov.uk/recycle-right.
Excess general (non-recyclable) waste can be taken to one of the local recycling centres. Locations details and opening times are available at: www.breckland.gov.uk/article/3031/Recycling-Centres.
